How to Find Your Tattoo Design Before Your Seoul Appointment

How to Find Tattoo Design Before Your Seoul Appointment
If you're not sure how to find tattoo design ideas that truly feel like you, here's how our artists recommend preparing.
Many first consultations at Tatti Seoul start the same way: "I want something like this… but I'm not sure exactly what."
That's completely normal. The clearer your references are, the better your artist can design a piece that's truly yours, and the less time you'll spend going back and forth. Here's how our artists recommend preparing.
1. Start with the style, not the subject
A rose can be a delicate fine line piece or a bold black & grey realism piece, and the two will look nothing alike on your skin. Before you decide what to get, decide how you want it to feel.
2. Collect 3–5 references from real tattoos
Where you look for references matters. Here's what we've found works best.
Pinterest is great for mood and overall vibe. But many popular pins are digital illustrations or AI images that were never tattooed, and some can't be tattooed the way they look on screen.
Instagram shows real work, but it's organized by artist, not by style. Finding "small fine line flowers" can mean scrolling through dozens of accounts.
INKIVE is a tattoo search engine built for exactly this. It collects real tattoo work from artists around the world, and you can search by style, motif or placement, like "fine line rose forearm." You can also save the pieces you like into a collection and show it at your consultation.
Whichever you use, the rule is the same: choose photos of real tattoos on real skin. That way you and your artist are talking about what's actually achievable.

3. Explore by style
Not sure which style fits you yet? Browsing a lot of real examples side by side is the fastest way to find out. Here are the styles our artists work in most often, with a place to explore each one.
Fine line: thin, delicate linework, a favorite for small and first tattoos. Browse fine line tattoo ideas to see how much detail fits into a small space.
Black & grey: depth and soft shading without color, and it ages beautifully. See black and grey tattoo designs for inspiration.
Realism & micro realism: portraits, pets and objects rendered like photographs. Our artists are known for this style. Explore more realism tattoo references.
Geometric: clean shapes, symmetry and patterns that follow the body. Get ideas from these geometric tattoos.
Anime & illustrative: character work and bold, drawn-looking pieces. Check our portfolio pages for examples.
4. Think about placement and size
Fine detail needs space to stay clear over time. Note where on your body you're imagining the tattoo and roughly how big. Your artist will tell you honestly what will hold up.
5. Bring it all to your consultation
Three to five references, a style direction and a placement idea are all we need to start designing. When you're ready, book a consultation with Tatti Seoul.
